Vladimir Putin: “Agriculture is the engine of economic development”  !!!

The head of state noted the high growth rate of production in the agricultural sector.

Agriculture is developing at a good pace: if economic growth is 1.3%, then agricultural production is 4.1%, said President Vladimir Putin during a trip to Adygea. “To a certain extent, this is even a locomotive for the development of the entire economy,” he noted (quote from the transcript on the Kremlin’s website).

The agricultural sector not only provides the country with all the basic basic food products, but also works quite efficiently and more and more for export, the head of state drew attention. “In 2018, almost $ 26 billion. It was hard to even imagine such a few years ago. It seemed that this was impossible at all, it was not about us. But this is all happening, ”Putin said. He added that the state program for the development of the industry will continue, in addition, next year a new program for the development of rural territories will begin to work.

According to Rosstat, in January-November, agricultural production increased by 4.1% to almost 5.5 trillion rubles. Including in November, growth was 5.8%, while GDP dynamics slowed to 1.6% after 2.31% in October, the Ministry of Economic Development estimated. Since the beginning of the year, the economy added 1.3% year-on-year, follows from the December newsletter of the department, “The picture of business activity.” Support for economic growth in November was provided by trade and agriculture, while the main contribution to the slowdown in growth in November was made by a sharp deterioration in industrial dynamics, the ministry explains.

The growth rate of agricultural output remains at relatively high levels – 5.8% in November after 5.2% in October, which is due to a good harvest and a relatively stable situation in the livestock sector, the Ministry of Economic Development said in a bulletin. According to Rosstat, the grain yield in all farms this year amounted to 120.6 million tons – 6.5% more than a year earlier. Sunflower harvested 15.1 million tons (+ 18.4%), sugar beets – 50.6 million tons (+ 20.3%), vegetables – 14 million tons (+ 2.3%). Potato harvest decreased by 0.9% to 22.2 million tons. Production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in November increased by 1.2%, milk – by 4.6%, eggs – by 2.3%.

Earlier in an interview with Kommersant, the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev said that agricultural production in Russia in 2019 could grow by 2%. Prior to this, the same forecast at the conference of “Agroinvestor” “Agroholdings of Russia” was voiced by the deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture Elena Fastova . The previous assessment of the department was at the level of plus 1-1.5%.

From January 1 to December 8, agricultural exports from Russia amounted to $ 22.4 billion, said the Center for Agricultural Analytics, citing data from the FCS. According to the results of the year, the export of agricultural products will reach at least $ 24 billion, Elena Fastova said at the Agroinvestor conference. “In terms of product exports, we see the figure of $ 24 billion, or even $ 25 billion,” she estimated. In an interview with Kommersant, Dmitry Patrushev said that this year it will be possible to achieve the export target of $ 24 billion. “If you compare this figure with last year, the result is slightly lower, but there are absolutely objective reasons for this,” the minister explained. – First of all, this is due to a change in the structure of exports. This year, the volume that falls on our main export position – grain, has slightly decreased. But at the same time, we have grown strongly in other segments. ”
