Volga Baikal AGRO News Update on Dmitry Patrushev’s report on the Current Situation in the Agricultural Sector !!!
On October 14, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held a meeting with members of the Government, during which the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev made a presentation on the preliminary results of the harvesting of agricultural crops in 2020 and on the implementation of the state program for the Integrated Development of Rural Areas.
As the head of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture noted, the Russian agro-industrial complex demonstrates positive dynamics. The harvesting campaign started on time and is now almost complete. Due to this, the internal needs of the country will be met and the export potential of the agro-industrial complex will be realized.
There are some extracts from Dmitry Patrushev’s report:
Despite the current situation, the Russian agro-industrial complex demonstrates positive dynamics. We continue to interact with the subjects in the format of weekly headquarters to monitor the situation in the industry. In general, it remains stable. In the spring, the agrarians carried out the sowing campaign as usual. The harvest campaign also, Mr President, started on time, and now it is almost completed. Its rates, as well as yield indicators, significantly exceed last year’s.
Currently, grains are threshed from 93 percent of the area, and as I reported to you, we expect that in 2020 the grain harvest will exceed 125 million tons in net weight. Including wheat, it is planned at least 82 million tons, which is 7.5 million tons more than in 2019.
Plans for other crops are as follows:
The harvest of potatoes should be about 22 million tons, oilseeds – 21.5 million tons. In particular, Vladimir Vladimirovich is expected to have a record harvest of rapeseed – at least 2.5 million tons. The vegetable harvest will exceed 14 million tons. In addition, systematic procurement of feed for livestock breeding is underway.
The sowing of winter crops continues in parallel. The total area will be over 19 million hectares, which is half a million hectares more than last year’s level. In 38 regions the work has already been completed, in another 24 it is still ongoing.
Mr President, in general, everything is going according to schedule. The farmers are provided with seeds in full, the same can be said about all the main production resources. In particular, the accumulated reserves of mineral fertilizers amount to 3.7 million tons, which is almost 10 percent higher than last year’s level. Now the prices on the mineral fertilizers market are stable.
As for fuels and lubricants, no interruptions in fuel supplies were observed over the past period of the year. The demand is about 4.6 million tons of diesel fuel and 700 thousand tons of gasoline. Agricultural producers are provided with fuel and lubricants for the harvesting campaign.
Further: the farmers have over 565 thousand tractors and combines, while the systematic renewal of the equipment fleet continues. According to the plans, 56 thousand units will be purchased this year, including due to the action of Resolution No. 1432 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and preferential programs for agricultural producers from Rosagroleasing. In 2020, Rosagroleasing will supply at least nine thousand units of machinery and equipment worth 36 billion rubles. This became possible, Vladimir Vladimirovich, thanks to the funds allocated for the additional capitalization of Rosagroleasing, for this I would like to thank you separately. This is a very necessary solution that allows you to update your agricultural machinery fleet.
