In accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia continues to work on the creation of a network of attachés for the agro-industrial complex abroad. At present, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture have already begun to fulfill their duties in 10 countries: Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Peru, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Angola and Ethiopia, – the press service of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture told to The DairyNews.
Their responsibilities, in particular, include the development of proposals for the development of agricultural cooperation, work on the conclusion of international agreements and contracts in the field of the agro-industrial complex, establishing business contacts with representatives of government and business, as well as facilitating negotiations between Russian companies and potential partners. The formation of a network of attachés will help promote domestic agricultural products and foodstuffs to foreign markets, as well as strengthen the country’s export potential.

“The pandemic has made some adjustments to the work schedule in this area. Nevertheless, the first agricultural attaches have already begun to fulfill their duties, and we expect a significant development of our cooperation with foreign partners. In addition, in the near future, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture will be sent to South Korea, China, Vietnam and Israel. By the end of the year, if the epidemiological situation permits, about 30 more specialists will begin work in priority markets for Russia, ”said Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev.

Representatives of the Ministry abroad were, among other things, the best graduates of the Agricultural Attaché program, which has been implemented since 2019 on the basis of the Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia “International agricultural markets and foreign economic activity in the agro-industrial complex” at MGIMO. According to the plan, agricultural attaches will be sent to 50 foreign countries by the end of 2022.
