Volga Baikal AGRO NEWS Update on the Russia – Georgia trade relations !!!
In 2020 the agricultural export from Russia to Georgia increased by more than one third !!!
More than 1 million tons of products worth $ 296 million were delivered to Georgia by the Russian agro-industrial complex from January 01, 2020 up to December 20, 2020, the press service of Agroexport reported on December 28, 2020. The physical volume of exports of these products in comparison with the same period of the last year increased by 37%, and its value – by 3.9%. As noted, Georgia is among the top – 20 importers of the Russian food products. Most of all, in terms of the volume, Georgia imported wheat from Russia. During the specified period, its deliveries reached 566 thousand tons, showing an increase of 30% over the year. In monetary terms, this amounted up to $ 86 million, with growth over the year by 2.8%.
Russia and Georgia have been being in mutually beneficial cooperation for a long period of time. Georgia exports to the Russian market mainly grape wines, mineral water and citrus fruits. Russia, in its turn, supplies to Georgia wheat. The largest trade partners of Georgia are Turkey, China and Russia.
