Volga Baikal AGRO News Update on the Russian Agriculture Development !!!

Ministry of Agriculture: All conditions have been created for the successful development of the agro-industrial complex in 2021.

If the weather does not fail, the pace of development of the Russian agricultural industry this year will not be lower than last year – the results of the first quarter in certain areas confirm this, said the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev following the report of Mikhail Mishustin on the work of the government in the State Duma. He noted that the government has created all the necessary conditions for this.

“The measures taken are transparent and understandable for all the market participants, are comprehensive and envisage not only mechanisms of customs and tariff regulation, but also significant additional volumes of state support for those producers who need it most,” – said the minister.

Dmitry Patrushev also noted that, for the Russian agro-industrial complex, the last year  was one of the most successful over the past few years. The Russians were fully provided with quality products. Earlier it was reported that the index of production of agricultural products in 2020 amounted up to 102.5%, the index of agricultural products – 101.5%. In particular, a good harvest of grain and oilseeds was harvested, the production of meat and milk, greenhouse vegetables and fruits increased. Such results were achieved, among other things, due to state support within the framework of the state program for the development of agriculture, as well as due to the prolongation and postponement of loan payments for agribusiness. The grain harvest amounted up to 133.5 million tons, and this is the second result in the history of the country. Also, the target indicators for the collection of vegetables in the open field, oilseeds, and the establishment of perennial plantings have been exceeded.

At the same time, the last year, the world food market  faced new unprecedented challenges. Against the backdrop of the pandemic, there was a break in food supply chains, a decrease in the production of individual food. All this forced many countries to build up food supplies, which led to higher prices on the world market. For some basic food commodities, they have reached historic highs.

Against this background, Russian agrarians have shown decent results. The state, in turn, supported the industry by expanding supportive measures and measures to preserve the financial stability of the industry.

According to the plans of the Ministry of Agriculture, this year we will increase the sowing of grain and leguminous crops, fodder crops, as well as vegetables and potatoes in the organized sector. The planting of vineyards will also grow significantly. The area under sugar beet will grow by almost 15% (up to 1.062 million hectares).
