In January-February, 2021 Russia increased the export of wheat and meslin (a mixture of wheat and rye) by 2.06 times compared to the same period of the last year – up to 7.59 million tons, – Federal Customs Service (FCS) of the Russian Federation.
In monetary terms, wheat supplies abroad increased 2.38 times, amounting to $ 1.884 billion.
In turn, supplies of vegetable oil abroad in January-February increased by 3.1% in annual terms and amounted to 589.2 thousand tons. In monetary terms, they increased 1.6 times and amounted to $ 630.1 million.
At the same time, in January-February Russia increased imports of wheat, by 36%, to 30.5 thousand tons ($ 12.3 million). The import of corn decreased by 41.9%, to 9.4 thousand tons (by $ 27.8 million). And the import of vegetable oil in January-February increased by 74.4%, up to 0.3 thousand tons (by 0.3 million dollars).
Export of cereals from Russia in 2019 amounted to 39.4 million tons (including 31.9 million tons of wheat and meslin), grain shipments in the 2019-2020 agricultural year (from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020) – 41.7 million tons, wheat – 33.2 million tons. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation expects that in the 2020-2021 agricultural year, grain exports from Russia will amount up to 45 million tons, wheat – 35 million tons.
