Situation on the Russian Grain Market: August 16 – 20, 2021 (Week 33)
Domestic Grain Prices Development:
According to regional agribusiness management bodies, as of August 18, 2021, the average Russian prices for the 3-class wheat were 13 408 rubles/ton (+2 % within a week), for the 4-class wheat – 12 689 rubles/ton (+2,3 % within a week), for the 5-class wheat – 12 068 rubles/ton (+1,9% within a week), for feed barley – 11 624 rubles/ton (+2,0% within a week), for food rye – 9 647 rubles/ton (+2,6 % within a week), for corn – 13 112 rubles/ton (-0,2% within a week).
Export Price and Volume Development:
According to operational data of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (excluding data on mutual trade with the EAEU member States for July&August), as of August 19, 2021: 4,2 million tons of grain crops were exported in the current 2021/2022 agricultural year, which is 30% than in the same period of the last season (6.0 million tons). The volume of the wheat exports for the season amounted to 3.5 million tons (25.8% lower than the same period of the 2020/2021 season), barley – 0.6 million tons (-43.9 %), corn – 0.1 million tons (-63.6 %).
As of August 19, 2021 FOB Novorossiysk prices:
For the Russian 4-class wheat (protein 12,5%) – 299 USD/ton (+20 USD/ton within a week), barley – 270 USD/ton (+30 USD/ton within a week), corn – 272 USD/ton (+2 USD/ton within a week). Federal Intervention Fund:
As of August 20, 2021, the volume of the grain is 74.8 thousand tons.
During the sales of grain from the reserves of the Federal intervention Fund in 2020 – 2021, the total volume of exchange transactions as of August 20, 2021 amounted to 1 613,8 thousand tons in the amount of 19 241 million rubles, including the 3-class wheat – 802,5 thousand tons, the 4-class wheat – 690,8 thousand tons, wheat of the 5-class – 92,1 thousand tons, barley – 28,3 thousand tons.
