The Russian Government considers the preliminary results of the harvest of agricultural crops in 2020 at a meeting on Thursday, October 08.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the sown area this year amounted to 79.6 million hectares, which is 100 thousand hectares more than a year earlier.
As of October 07, grain and leguminous crops were threshed from 44.2 million hectares, which is 92.2% of their sown area. 126.6 million tons of grain have been threshed (in bunker weight, i.e. before cleaning and drying), the yield is 28.6 c / ha.
Including wheat threshed from 28.6 million hectares, or 97.2% of the sown area. Collected 86.6 million tons with a yield of 30.3 c / ha.
The harvesting of oilseeds continues. The sunflower was threshed from 5.2 million hectares (61.8%), 8.6 million tons were harvested, the yield is 16.5 c / ha. Rape was harvested from 1.3 million hectares (88.2%), 2.5 million tons were harvested with a yield of 19.4 c / ha. Soybean crops were harvested from more than half of the area (52.1%), 2.8 million tons were harvested with a yield of 18.7 c / ha.
The Ministry of Agriculture forecasts grain harvest this year in net weight at more than 125 million tons, including at least 82 million tons of wheat. This will be the second harvest after the record 2017 (135.5 million tons). In 2019, 121.2 million tons were harvested, including 74.5 million tons of wheat.
According to preliminary estimates, up to 21.5 million tons of oilseeds will also be harvested this year.
