Volga Baikal AGRO NEWS Update on the World Grain Market !!!

In 2020, the rye harvest is estimated at 2.2 million tons.

According to the Russian Grain Union’s data, the rye harvest this year will reach 2.2 million tons against 1.4 million tons in 2019.

Prices for the rye fell against the backdrop of an increase in harvest and are currently quite stable. The price for rye is now at the level of about 10 thousand rubles per ton, while in May it reached 15 thousand rubles / ton. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of November 11, 2020 the average wholesale price for food rye  amounted up to 10.2 thousand rubles / ton (excluding VAT) against 8.3 thousand rubles / ton a year earlier. The highest price was in the South of Russia – 12.6 thousand rubles / ton against 9.9 thousand rubles / ton in 2019. The lowest price was recorded in the Volga region – 9.1 thousand rubles / ton against 7 thousand rubles / ton a year ago.

The rye has been sown on the area of 1 million hectares. The current acreage under rye is enough to fully satisfy consumer’s demand. in 2021, the area under the rye will remain approximately at the level of this year, if there is a decrease, then it will be insignificant. Due to the lack of demand for rye from consumers, there will probably not be an increase in acreage. This season Russia exported 51 tons of rye. There is no export demand, the consumption of rye bread is not growing and will not grow…
