On Thursday, April 08, 2021, Chicago wheat futures rallied as persistent low temperatures in Europe and the Black Sea region threaten a future harvest. By the end of the trading day, May CBOT winter wheat futures in Chicago rose to $ 231.02 per ton, KCBT durum winter wheat futures in Kansas City – to $ 211.82 per ton, March MGE spring durum wheat futures in Mineapolis rose to $ 235.25 per ton.

The drought is expected to slow down the sowing of spring wheat in the US and Canada.

Corn was supported by low ethanol stocks and growing exports.

Soy rose ahead of the USDA supply and demand report, which the USDA is to publish on Friday.

On the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CBOT) on Thursday, quotes for futures contracts for delivery in May:

soybeans (May 2021) – 520.01 USD / t (40,440 rubles / t) – plus 0.46%;

rapeseed (ICE, May 2021) – 840.40 USD / t (65360 rubles / t) – plus 1.62%.

French wheat rose Thursday as a cold snap this week in France, the largest wheat producer in the European Union, hit record lows in April, dampening optimism about the crop outlook. At the end of the trading day, May quotes of milling wheat on the Parisian MATIF stock exchange rose to € 211.75 (or $ 252.26), June corn quotes to € 215.25 per ton (or $ 256.43).
