Farmers in the Orenburg Region of Russia have Started Seeding of Winter Wheat despite some still going on 2020 Harvest Operation.

In accordance with the agrotechnical terms, the farms of the Orenburg region have started sowing winter crops. Akbulaksky, Buzuluk, Kurmanaevsky, Novosergievsky, Pervomaysky, Ponomarevsky, Saraktashsky, Severny, Tashlinsky districts, Sol-Iletsky and Sorochinsky urban districts were among the first to start the sowing campaign.

The plan for the region is 904.8 thousand hectares. As of August 13, work was carried out on 7 thousand hectares. The largest areas are planned to be sown in the farms of Novosergievsky (52.6 thousand hectares), Buzuluk (50.6 thousand hectares), Orenburg (48.2 thousand hectares), Tashlinsky (48.1 thousand hectares) and Totsky (47, 3 thousand ha) districts.

Every year the yield of winter grain crops exceeds the yield of spring crops, so they are an insurance crop. 2020 has once again confirmed this. Of the 2.3 million tons of threshed grain – 1 million 948 thousand tons – this is winter grain.

One of the main directions has been and remains an increase in the area of ​​winter cereals.  So, next year the sowing area of ​​winter crops will be increased to 1 million hectares.
