BY OCTOBER 28, GRAIN AND LEGUMINOUS CROPS WERE THRESHED FROM 95% OF THE AREA.

Grain crop forecasts again raised, as Weather favors completion of harvesting campaign.

Institute of Agricultural Market StudiesIKAR) raised the forecast for grain harvest in Russia this year by 900 thousand tons to 123.4 million tons. The estimate for all three major agricultural crops, including wheat – by 200 thousand tons to 75.8 million tons, was adjusted upward; , barley – by 200 thousand tons of 20.8 million tons, corn – by 100 thousand tons to 14.3 million tons.

“Forecasts have been raised based on the latest harvesting data, which until recently had been in favorable weather conditions,” the IKAR Director General told InterfaxDmitry Rylko. He noted that this year’s grain yield is higher than last year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, on October 28, the country collected 121 million tons of bunker weight with an average yield of 27.3 kg / ha, which is 1.4 kg / ha or 5.4% higher than last year’s level.

To date, wheat has been threshed from almost 98% of the sown area, 77.5 million tons were produced in the originally capitalized seed. At the same time, the yield, which lagged behind the last year during almost the entire harvesting campaign, but surpassed it at the beginning of October, remains higher than the indicators of 2018. By October 28, wheat harvest from 1 ha is estimated at 28.2 c / ha against 27.9 c / ha a year earlier. Barley yields increased by 2.9 kg / ha to 25.3 kg / ha, and corn – by 11.9 kg / ha to 59.2 kg / ha. The latter has so far been threshed from two-thirds of the sown area.

The forecast for grain crops was also increased by the analytical company ProZerno“. As its director general Vladimir Petrichenko said at the “XIX Grain Round Table” in Novosibirsk at the end of last week, the harvest will be 123 million tons, including 75.5 million tons of wheat, 21 million tons of barley and 13.8 million tons of corn. According to him, the increase is primarily due to good performance in corn harvesting. “I didn’t think that the hammers themselves would go this way, something unpleasant would happen, and there would be losses, but there were sheer joys,” said Petrichenko (quoted by Interfax).

According to the results of harvesting, the yield of corn will be a record and is projected at 53.8 c / ha, the head of the Rusagrotrans analytical center said earlier»Igor Pavensky. He explained that the warm end of summer and the beginning of autumn, as well as favorable weather conditions during the harvesting campaign, had a positive effect on the harvest. In mid-October, the center raised its forecast for grain yield by 1.4 million tons to 121.1 million tons , of which 75.4 million tons will be wheat, 20.4 million tons – barley and 13.8 million tons – corn.  Ministry of Agriculture expects a grain yield of 120 million tons , including 78 million tons of wheat. In 2018, the grain harvest in Russia amounted to 113.2 million tons, including 72.1 million tons of wheat.

Despite the growth of the crop to last year’s level, farmers continue to hold on to wheat sales, according to the SovEcon analytical center”. Last week, average prices for wheat of the 3rd class increased by 350 rubles. up to 11050 rub./t; 4th grade – 325 rubles. up to 10925 rub./t; 5th grade – 275 rubles. up to 10250 rub./t. “The domestic wheat market has again grown sharply against the backdrop of the active strengthening of quotations on FOB,” the center’s analysts explain. Last week, export prices for Russian wheat updated the season record, increasing by $ 5.5 and reaching $ 210.5 per tonne (FOB, protein 12.5%) amid high demand, follows from monitoring by SovEcon“. IKARrecorded growth over the week by $ 1 to $ 208 per ton. At the same time, prices have gone up since the beginning of September on world exchanges. So, the Matif stock exchange closed last week with prices for French wheat at around € 181 or $ 200.9 per tonne, which is slightly lower than a week earlier ($ 201.15), SovEcon writes”. On the Chicago Stock Exchange, the price fell even more and amounted to $ 5.18 per bushel or $ 190.3 per ton (a week earlier – $ 195.4 per ton).
