Volga Baikal AGRO NEWS Update on the Russian Export to Georgia !!!

Russia has become a monopoly in Georgia on the wheat and flour market.

Russia accounts for 86% of Georgia’s total wheat imports and 99% of flour.

From January to July 2022, 48.3 thousand tons of wheat came from the Russian Federation to the Georgian market. At the same time, 3.7 tons were imported from Kazakhstan during the same period, and 3.6 tons from Armenia.

It is noted that the supply of flour this year increased nine times compared to the last year:

94.6 tons of flour were exported from the Russian Federation, and 650 tons from Turkey, which is in second place in this indicator.

It should be noted that approximately 15% of the annual wheat consumption is produced in Georgia, and the rest is imported. Most of the grain exports go to Russia. At the same time, the volume of purchased grain has decreased over the past year. Due to the introduction of protective duties in the Russian Federation, Georgia began to switch to buying Russian flour.
