Volga Baikal AGRO NEWS Update on the Digitalization of the Agricultural Sector !!!
Neural networks and robots will increase the yield of greenhouses and gardens by 20-30%.
Russia will be able to take one of the leading places in the global IT market in greenhouse vegetable growing and horticulture by combining the efforts of large businesses and research institutes. This was stated by Anton Tikhonov, Executive Director of the Department of Industrial and Technological Expertise of the Rosselkhozbank.
According to the RSHB, greenhouse vegetable growing has historically been the main driver of the introduction of IT in all agriculture. The need for digital solutions in greenhouses is caused by a large number of technical systems and devices that control the microclimate and require automation and integration into a single control system.
IT is also increasingly required in horticulture due to the introduction of irrigation and plant nutrition management systems.
In both sub-sectors there is a demand for systems for automatic monitoring of the condition of plants over large areas and accurate forecasting of yields.
The solution proposed by the Rosselkhozbank is the use of robotic platforms equipped with artificial intelligence.
“Greenhouse vegetable growing and horticulture are on the verge of introducing robotic systems with machine vision. Artificial intelligence will allow to increase productivity by 20-30%, increase the accuracy of crop forecasting up to 90%. It is the introduction of such systems that will determine the competitiveness of the business in the near future. The available solutions are insufficient, so Russia has a chance to take a worthy place in the market of artificial intelligence in agriculture. To do this, we need to consolidate the efforts of market participants and science, including in training neural networks based on big data. Russia has the potential for this,” – said Anton Tikhonov.
