Investments in the introduction of agricultural science in the agro-industrial complex in Russia in 2022-2024 will amount to more than 19 billion rubles. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agriculture.
“Funding for the project from 2022 to 2024 will amount to more than 19 billion rubles, including extra-budgetary funds. During this period, it is planned to achieve significant growth in a number of indicators. Thus, in relation to 2020, the productivity of dairy cattle will increase by 15%. The level of seed self-sufficiency domestic selection will reach 70%. In addition, 900 new high-tech jobs in the agro-industrial complex will be created, “the message says.
As explained in the Ministry of Agriculture, funding is carried out within the framework of the initiative “Agrarian Science – a step into the future development of the agro-industrial complex”, developed by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, will be included in the structure of the state program “Scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation.” Within the framework of the project, the development of schools of Russian breeding and genetics will be intensified, as well as a digital database of genetic indicators, including a bank of genetic passports, will be created.
The goal of the initiative is to introduce modern achievements of agricultural science in independent breeding and genetics, including genomic and post-genomic technologies, to obtain high-quality and affordable products, to strengthen control over the breeding and seed industries, as well as to develop human resources and ensure the country’s food security. Representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, educational and scientific institutions, as well as financial organizations will take part in the events.
According to the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dmitry Patrushev, cited in the message, by 2030, thanks to the implementation of the initiative, 600 new agricultural enterprises and 4,500 jobs will appear, while the budget will receive 20.5 billion rubles in additional tax revenues. Also among the targets is a 15% reduction in the cost of agricultural production. In general, the project will contribute to building up the scientific and economic potential of the agro-industrial complex, reducing import dependence and improving the quality of life of citizens.
