Situation on the Russian Grain Market: January 17 – 21, 2022 (Week 3)
Domestic Grain Prices Development:
According to regional agribusiness management bodies, as of January 19, 2022, the average Russian prices for the 3-class wheat were 15 250 rubles/ton (+0.2% within a week), for the 4-class wheat – 14 455 rubles/ton (0% within a week), for the 5-class wheat – 14 135 rubles/ton (+0.8% within a week), for feed barley – 13 599 rubles/ton (+0.5 % within a week), for food rye – 12 242 rubles/ton (+2.5 % within a week), for corn – 13 370 rubles/ton (+0.4% within a week).
Export Price and Volume Development:
According to operational data of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (excluding data on mutual trade with the EAEU member States for December 2021 – January 2022), as of January 20, 2022: 25.1 million tons of grain crops were exported in the current 2021/2022 agricultural year, which is 24.7% less than in the same period of the last season (33.4 million tons). The volume of the wheat exports for the season amounted to 21 million tons (23.9% lower than the same period of the 2020/2021 season), barley – 2.7 million tons (-32.3%), corn – 1.1 million tons (-27.9 %).
As of January 20, 2022 FOB Novorossiysk prices:
For the Russian 4-class wheat (protein 12,5%) – 335 USD/ton (+3 USD/ton within 1 week), barley – 295 USD/ton (+2 USD/ton within 1 week), corn – 276 USD/ton (+4 USD/ton within 1 week). Federal Intervention Fund:
As of January 21, 2022, the volume of the grain is 60.5 thousand tons for the amount of 620.2 million rubles.
During the sales of grain from the reserves of the Federal intervention Fund in 2020 – 2021, the total volume of exchange transactions as of January 21, 2022, amounted to 1 621,7 thousand tons in the amount of 19 358 million rubles, including the 3-class wheat – 810,5 thousand tons, the 4-class wheat – 690,8 thousand tons, wheat of the 5-class – 92,1 thousand tons, barley – 28,3 thousand tons.
