Situation on the Russian Grain Market: October 18 – 22, 2021 (Week 42)
Domestic Grain Prices Development:
According to regional agribusiness management bodies, as of October 20, 2021, the average Russian prices for the 3-class wheat were 15 098 rubles/ton (+1.0 % within a week), for the 4-class wheat – 14 259 rubles/ton (+0.7 % within a week), for the 5-class wheat – 13 586 rubles/ton (+1.7% within a week), for feed barley – 12 829 rubles/ton (+0.9% within a week), for food rye – 10 061 rubles/ton (+1.3 % within a week), for corn – 13 535 rubles/ton (+0.8% within a week).
Export Price and Volume Development:
According to operational data of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (excluding data on mutual trade with the EAEU member States for September & October), as of October 21, 2021: 13.5 million tons of grain crops were exported in the current 2021/2022 agricultural year, which is 24% less than in the same period of the last season (17.8 million tons). The volume of the wheat exports for the season amounted to 11.6 million tons (21.2% lower than the same period of the 2020/2021 season), barley – 1.6 million tons (-36.8 %), corn – 0.3 million tons (-49.8 %).
As of October 21, 2021 FOB Novorossiysk prices:
For the Russian 4-class wheat (protein 12,5%) – 318 USD/ton (+3 USD/ton within a week), barley – 277 USD/ton (+7 USD/ton within a week), corn – 270 USD/ton (-2 USD/ton within a week). Federal Intervention Fund:
As of October 22, 2021, the volume of the grain is 68.5 thousand tons for the amount of 707.0 million rubles.
During the sales of grain from the reserves of the Federal intervention Fund in 2020 – 2021, the total volume of exchange transactions as of October 22, 2021 amounted to 1 621,7 thousand tons in the amount of 19 358 million rubles, including the 3-class wheat – 810,5 thousand tons, the 4-class wheat – 690,8 thousand tons, wheat of the 5-class – 92,1 thousand tons, barley – 28,3 thousand tons.
