The Ministry of Agriculture announced the overfulfillment of some of the goals of the agro-industrial complex development program in 2020:
In particular, the indicators for the growth of agricultural production, the export of agricultural products and the added value produced were exceeded.
“The Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev presented at the meeting of the Government of the Russian Federation the National Report on the implementation of the state program for the development of agriculture in 2020. Last year, its targets for the growth of agricultural production, exports of agricultural products and added value were exceeded,” the message says.
So, according to the minister, the index of agricultural production in farms of all categories by the base year 2017 was preliminary 105.7% against the plan of 103.8%. This result includes, among other things, the index of crop production, which in 2020 is estimated at 106.1% – 3.7 percentage points higher than the plan, the Ministry of Agriculture explained. Patrushev recalled that Russian farmers received one of the best grain yields, and records were set for individual crops, for example, for rice, rapeseed, fruits and greenhouse vegetables. An increase in indicators was ensured in various areas of animal husbandry – in the production of milk, livestock and poultry.
As noted in the message, at the moment the dynamics in this industry is positive, in 2021 the Ministry of Agriculture expects to meet the target indicators. In addition, compared to the level of 2017, the food production index last year was 111.7%, which is 2.1 percentage points higher than the plan, and the beverage production index reached 108%. Growth was recorded for sunflower and butter oils, canned fruits and vegetables and other types of products.
D.Patrushev also noted the active development of the foreign trade potential of the agro-industrial complex:
Last year, Russian agricultural exports exceeded imports for the first time. Agricultural products were supplied to international markets for more than $ 30.5 billion. The growth rate of exports in 2020 in relation to the base one exceeded 141%, which is 22 percentage points higher than the planned value, the second key goal of the state program has been fulfilled. The added value of agricultural products produced last year practically reached 3.5 trillion rubles, while the plan was 3.2 trillion rubles.
“The achievement of the goals of the state program in the current year and in the future will be facilitated, among other things, by the digitalization of the agro-industrial complex, a general increase in the technological level of our industry, the involvement of agricultural land in the turnover. Also, of course, in dialogue with farmers and regions, we will continue to improve the system of state support,” – concluded the minister.
