Difficulties in harvesting grain in Siberia will not affect the implementation of the harvest plan
The harvesting of grain in the agrarian regions of Siberia – Altai Territory, Novosibirsk and Omsk Regions – is carried out in difficult weather conditions, said the presidential envoy to the Siberian Federal District (SFD) Sergei Menyailo at a meeting of the board of the interregional association “Siberian Agreement” on Wednesday.
In July, these regions were declared a regional emergency due to drought.
“Today, farmers are making every effort to preserve the harvest, as well as to procure feed in the required amounts. This year, the constituent entities of the federal district are faced with the task of collecting more than 15 million tons of grain, which is quite realistic to do, despite the difficulties encountered,” quotes Menyailo District information center at the embassy.
As reported, in 2020, warm weather made it possible to start the sowing campaign in the regions of Siberia earlier than usual and to carry it out well ahead of the pace of last year. In general, spring sowing was carried out on an area of 12 million hectares, or 99% of the plan.
