The forecast for grain harvest in Russia in the 2020 season is more than 130 million tons, said Vladimir Petrichenko, general director of the analytical agency ProZerno, as part of the XX Grain Round Table, which is being held today in Novosibirsk. “More than 130 million tons (according to the presentation – 130 million 473 thousand tons) – exactly. We will collect more than 83 million tons of wheat. A very good barley harvest – more than 21 million tons, this is also obvious,” he said.
At the same time, according to Petrichenko, corn “did not justify those hopes and views on the harvest that were at the beginning of the growing season.”
“There will be more than 13 million tons, and how much is now an important big intrigue, because corn will be a very interesting product this season. I would like more, especially considering that such an important player in the Black Sea region, number one – Ukraine – with every glance at what will be produced for corn (forecast) is declining there. Now they look around 32.5 million tons, and started from 39 million tons, “Petrichenko said. According to him, the oat harvest will amount to 4 million tons, a decrease of 9-10%.
The head of ProZerno added that unfavorable weather conditions this year led to the fact that the Volga Federal District will harvest more grain than the regions of the Russian south, without the North Caucasus.
