Export of agricultural products from Russia in 2020 exceeded imports by almost $ 1 billion.
The export of agricultural products from the Russian Federation in 2020 exceeded imports by almost $ 1 billion, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Wednesday, answering questions from State Duma deputies after speaking with a report on the work of the Cabinet.
Deputy Rifat Shaikhutdinov asked whether it is possible to implement large infrastructure projects in the Russian Federation at the expense of domestic enterprises, for example, by adjusting the import substitution program.
“Without a doubt, it is possible,” – M.Mishustin replied. “Today, in those industries that are most prepared, where a lot of import substitution has already been implemented, we have directed serious funds. I will cite as an example the agro-industrial complex – 271 billion rubles in 2020 amounted to the volume of exports of the same food – and this is a direct consequence of these investments – it exceeded imports by almost $ 1 billion. “
According to M.Mishustin, the share of domestic products in government procurement increased from 49% to 57%, including thanks to the quota mechanism in favor of domestic products. He added that in total in 2021 more than 330 billion rubles are provided for import substitution in the budget of the Russian Federation – this is “a fairly serious figure.”
Earlier, the federal center “Agroexport” under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation announced that:
the volume of agricultural exports in 2020 set a record, reaching $ 30.7 billion against $ 25.6 billion a year earlier.
Thus, agroexport reached a record value, beating the maximum in 2018, following which the figure was $ 25.8 billion.
